Stationery guide

Designing your gift voucher stationery (paper, box or wallet and any additional extras such as stickers & tissue paper and packaging) presents a wonderful opportunity for you to reflect and enhance your brand to existing and new customers. And with around 50% of gift vouchers being sent by post, or printed & collected at your venue – it’s a ‘must have’ to help optimise your sales.

Our guidelines are designed to make the process as easy as possible for you.

Gift voucher paper

The gift voucher details (gift experience name, full description, image, validity and T&C’s) are printed onto the gift voucher paper. Here are our guidelines.

  • Format: A4 / A5 / Square 210 x 210 mm
  • Paper thickness: Up to 220 gsm so it fits through printers (at your venue & our fulfilment partner’s)
  • Finish: Matt not glossy, as will be printed on
  • Printing area on one side: Minimum 180 x 150 mm – this is where the voucher text will be printed.
  • Pre-printed elements: You can add your logo and design elements around the printing area. You can also design the back of the voucher paper. (Do not pre-print T&Cs as these may change)

Voucher print

Example of gift voucher paper blank and with the gift voucher details printed to give an idea of what information a print template includes.

A4 voucher paper

Elegant letter folded in 3 to fit into a wallet.

A5 voucher card

Although you have to keep on side quite plain to leave room for the voucher details to be printed, you can use photos and graphics on the other side, if desired.

A5 voucher card

The thicker the paper, the more luxurious the feel of the voucher card – up to 220 gsm,  so it fits through printers.

Paper details

Use matt textured paper to make your gifts even more special.

Gold foil details

Foil detail brings an elegant touch, bringing your brand to life.

Subtle details

Use subtle graphic details on the edges of the voucher paper, ensuring that it does not interfere with the voucher details that will be printed.

Gift voucher wallet or box

Make the ‘unwrapping’ of  your voucher a special experience by adding a gifting  wallet or box.

  • Format: Slightly larger than the voucher paper so it fits nicely inside.
  • Wallet or boxes? Boxes are usually more expensive (to produce and fulfil) than wallets, but look more premium. You can absorb that cost by passing it on to buyers choosing a postal delivery.
  • Vouchers per wallet/box: For buyers that purchase more than one voucher, we send out 1 wallet per voucher, but group as many wallets as we can together in the outer packaging.
  • Presentation envelope: To allow buyers to gift the voucher to a loved one, you could include an presentation envelope.

Wallet and envelope

This example is an A4 voucher paper folded in 3, inserted into a a wallet and placed in a black envelope. This is sent in an outer posting envelope.

Matt or gloss

The experience starts when they discover the  gift, make it special.

Patterns on wallet

Althought the voucher paper needs to be quite plain, the wallet is the place to express your brand with patterns, for example.

Embossed / Debossed

We think details are what makes stationery wallets so special.

Textured paper

Textured paper adds to the experience of unwrapping the gift by engaging the sense of touch.

Additional components

Make the ‘unwrapping’ experience even more memorable with additional elements such as:

  • Brochure
  • Tissue paper
  • Sticker
  • Ribbon
  • Additional folds

Gift box with sleeve

Use a seasonal sleeve around special occasions while keeping the same box all year round.

Ribbon

Add elements such as ribbons…

Tissue paper

Create a slow reveal of the gift by nesting the gift voucher inside a box with satin paper. (Open the box by hovering on top of the image…)

Outer posting envelope

Ensure this is unbranded, so as not to spoil any gifting surprises.

  • Posting envelopes should be “peel and seal”
  • For voucher paper (no wallet/box): use a posting envelope
  • For wallets: use a posting envelope or a padded jiffy bag
  • For boxes: use a larger padded jiffy bag
  • We recommend that you keep all outer posting envelopes and boxes ‘unbranded’, so the recipient of the gift voucher is not aware of who the package is from, until they open it. This also helps prevent potential mail thefts.

Recycled paper envelope

Economical option for vouchers in wallet.

Hard glossy white envelope

Helps prevent the voucher from being bent during transportation.

Back jiffy envelope

Elegant and ideal to protect more delicate stationery such as boxes.

Large envelope with hard back

These work well for A4 vouchers and for multiple smaller wallets.

Hard envelopes

To protect your stationery, use hard envelopes.

Jiffy envelope

… or padded jiffy envelopes.

Do not bend

It can also be a good idea to have  ‘Do not bend’  on your envelope.

Fulfilment fees

Gift voucher fulfilment fees are based on how many ‘components’ make up your gift voucher stationery. Voucher paper, wallets, boxes, outer packaging, brochures, tissue paper, stickers, ribbons and additional paper folds count towards the component number. Using a posting box counts as two components, as our fulfilment team make up the posting box, which counts as an extra component.

Please note that the majority of our clients pass on the fulfilment fee to the buyer in the postage and packaging charge noted in the checkout.
